Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre is an all inclusive treatment facility that focuses on compassion, love, and care. This centre treats men and women who are struggling with substance abuse and dual diagnosis. Clive and Yonit Blumenthal are the founders and owners of Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre. This center was founded in 2019 after Clive Blunmenthal felt that his own experiences going through recovery was marred by ill-treatment. They believe that clients can not fully heal while being simultaneously punished by those who are supposed to be helping them. Clive’s partner, Yonit, experienced what happens to the family while someone they love is battling addiction and going through treatment, so this is why they ensure that they assist and support the family members of those going through recovery. Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre believes in healing the holistic way including group and individual sessions, art therapy, and yoga. A few alternative therapies used include mosaicing, pottery, woodwork, drama therapy, gardening, AcuDetox, drumming, martial arts, and self defense training. Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre is registered with the South African Departments of Health and Social Development and accept some insurances.
Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre believes in long-term treatment, so they recommend that clients stay at least 3 months inpatient and up to a year at the halfway house, and the price can range from R58 000 per month for standard inpatient care to R110 000 per month for the executive suite. The executive suite is equipped with a private bathroom and kitchen. Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre can take a maximum of 26 clients but stays around 15 to create a 4 to 1 ratio of clients to clinical staff. Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre is located at the Blumenthal’s previous home. The accommodations are homely and spacious. The bedrooms and bathrooms are shared, and the common area is cozy and comfortable. Clients also have access to content streaming services such as Netflix and Deezer. Live sports are available as well as access to DSTV Premium, South Africa's top-tier cable TV provider. Journey also has outdoor seating and lounge area near the pool.
Journey Recovery & Wellness Centre can accommodate dietary needs like kosher, halaal, vegetarian, vegan, and food allergies. The estate has a full kitchen that is staffed and creates meals that often use the ingredients that are found in the home's garden. Journey provides an always open tea and coffee station as well as a tuckshop facility for any extra snacks or refreshments. Meals are served in a family-style environment.
