Reviews

I strongly advise all against using Richard Tyszowiecki from R.K.T Electrical. I hired Richard to do multi-part job in Vredehoek, Cape Town. At Richard’s personal request I paid in full for the job before it was completed. That was a mistake, even tough Richard promised me in person that (he) “is not going anywhere”, he ignored my phone call and messages when the time came to complete the job. I eventually got hold of him via a friend’s number. I was flooded with excuses and clever arguments. Long story short, and after going back and forth many times, Richard never came back to complete the job. He took the money and ran. To make things worse, the work that Richard did do, was not up to code and did not pass inspection and could not be certified. On top of that I was fined R 5 200 by the City of Cape Town for the fact that Richard could not successfully and adequately move my DB box as per council regulations. I have further had to pay R 4000 to a different electrician to complete the job that Richard could not and to fix Richard’s mistakes. Finally, as a contractor, Richard is not easy to work with. He is generally easily irritable and quick to be aggressive and defensive. The phrase that he used the most was, “how do you think I make money on this job?”. It saddens me that my local neighbourhood electrician, someone who lives just around the corner from me, turned out to be just another scrupulous contractor who has the ability to justify just about anything. In the end he did exactly what he promised me at the start he would not do.
